This series of 12 murals was executed in 1998 during the one of the hottest summers on record in Shreveport, Louisiana. The project was directed by Roberto Salas, with Leonard Service as project manager. It was funded by a grant from the NEA and administered by the Shreveport area arts council.
My role as one of the 5 professional artist team members, included design development, transfer, painting and direction of participating youth groups.
Eight of the twelve murals depicted blown-up images of some of the city’s existing architectural elements. A number of these actual elements have since been subjected to the wrecking ball to make way for new developments.
